Connecticut is home in the area of the United States known as New England sharing borders with Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York and a water boundary shared with the state of New York called Long Island Sound. Connecticut was one of the original 13 colonies with Connecticut state laws used as a model for the United States Constitution.
Connecticut has a humid continental climate in the interior and of course near the water the climate is more humid subtropical. Winters on average have temperatures right around freezing while summers are normally in the upper 80's, of course, there are still extreme temperatures on both sides of the thermometer according to the weather pattern in the US for any given year. The highest temperature record in Connecticut was 106 degrees Fahrenheit in July of 1995 and the coldest -32 degrees Fahrenheit in February of 1943.
Connecticut offers a wide array of historical museums and sights due to its long history however, Connecticut has many attractions that even the kids will love such as Audubon Center in Greenwich, Fairfield Theatre Company in Fairfield, Connecticut Art Trail which includes a variety of locations including the Bush-Holley Historic Site in Cos Cob/Greenwich, Bruce Museum in Greenwich, Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Norwalk, and the Weir Farm Natural Historic Site in Wilton/Ridgefield.
