Michigan is a unique state as its borders are mainly water creating the longest freshwater coastline in the world. Michigan has four Great Lakes surrounding it including Lake Huron, Lake Erie, Lake Superior, and Lake Michigan with the only land borders shared with Indiana and Illinois.
What is hard for many people to imagine is that Michigan is also home to several islands in the lakes that surround the state including North Manitou, South Manitou, Fox, and Beaver in Lake Michigan, Grande Isle and Isle Royale in Lake Superior, Mackinac, Bois Blanc, and Marquette in Lake Huron, and Drummond, Sugar, and Neebish in St. Mary's River and is home to at least 150 lighthouses.
Michigan is home to a wide array of waterfalls as well as many other attractions that will thrill the entire family.
