Nevada is located in the western United States bordering Oregon, Idaho, Arizona, and California. The state is divided several north/south mountain ranges with valleys between which may have helped to name the area the Great Basin. The climate is mainly desert with summer like weather throughout the year, however, this does not mean that Nevada never gets cold. The record cold temperature in Nevada was -47 degrees Fahrenheit in 1972 with the record high being 125 degrees Fahrenheit in Laughlin in 1994.
Everyone knows that Nevada is home to Las Vegas and all kinds of casinos and gaming fun, but many do not realize that Nevada is home to all kinds of family fun activities as well including Las Vegas such as the pirate show at Treasure Island Hotel & Casino. Of course, you can also visit other areas of Nevada besides Las Vegas such as Reno with the Ultimate Rush Speed & Thrill Park. For families that love hiking you will surely love Lake Tahoe, Spooner Lake, and the Mount Rose Wilderness Area. If you want to see if you can find any ghosts, then you will love the ghost towns the state such as Beatty on State Route 374 or the Tom Kelley Bottle House in Rhyolite.
