New Mexico

New Mexico is home in the southwestern part of the United States sharing borders with Colorado, Arizona, Utah, Oklahoma, Texas, and Mexico. The state is sparsely inhabited and is in considered to be a Mountain State. New Mexico is home to diverse terrain from snow-capped peaks to rose colored deserts and has very little water. The Sangre de Cristo Mountains are home in New Mexico and a few small rivers including the Gila, San Juan, Canadian, Pecos, and the Rio Grande.

New Mexico has a few areas that are protected by the National Park Service such as the Bandelier National Monument in Los Alamos, Aztec Ruins National Monument at Aztec, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, Gila National Forest, and Cibola National Forest in Albuquerque, to name a few. While visiting New Mexico you will want to check out other attractions such as the Sandia Peak Tramway, War Eagles Air Museum, and try to visit during one of the popular events like the Southern New Mexico State Fair and Rodeo or the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. Of course, if you love winter sports you are sure to want to visit and enjoy skiing, snowboarding, and more.
