Washington

Washington is home in the northwestern United States sharing borders with Oregon, Idaho, British Columbia, Canada, and the Pacific Ocean. Washington has various terrain including rain forests, mountains, and volcanoes. Actually, the state is home to four volcanoes including Mount Adams, Mount St. Helen's, Glacier Peak, Mt. Rainer, and Mount Baker. Washington is also home to the Olympic National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the International Biosphere Reserve. The state is also home to a few national parks, national forests, national monuments, and federally protected wilderness such as the Hanford Reach National Monument, Mount Rainer National Park, Umatilla National Forest, Wenatchee National Forest, Goat Rocks Wilderness, Juniper Dunes Wilderness, and Pasayten Wilderness. Along with these, Washington is also home to 23 national wildlife refuges including Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge, Saddle Mountain National Wildlife Refuge, and Willapa National Refuge and several other federally protected lands such as the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. As you can see, there are many wonderful outdoor areas that will give your family a wide array of fun activities and adventures while visiting the state. For those that wish to spend some time indoors there are several museums that will excite your family as well including the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Maryhill Museum of Art in Goldendale, and Seattle Art Museum in Seattle, to name a few.
