Iowa

Iowa is located in the Midwestern United States sharing borders with Minnesota, Wisconsin, Missouri, Nebraska, and South Dakota. Iowa has seen extreme temperatures on both ends of the scale with summer temperatures on average in the 90's degrees Fahrenheit range and in winter around 50 degrees Fahrenheit. There are extremes though with temperatures reaching over 100 degrees and -0 degrees. Iowa also has its fair share of tornadoes during the spring.

When it comes to things to do and see in Iowa you will amazed at what this state has to offer. First, you must consider you have different sections of the state to experience, which includes central, eastern, western, and northern. In Northern Iowa, you can experience a wide around of attractions including historic downtown areas in Mason City, Charles City, Independence, and Guttenberg, Maquoketa Caves State Park, National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium, and Grout Museum. In Western Iowa, you can visit the various lakes including Spirit Lake, Okoboji Lakes, Iowa Great Lakes, as well as enjoy the Union Pacific Railroad Museum, and the Orpheum Theater. Eastern Iowa offers the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site, the Amana Colonies, Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, National Czech & Slovak Museum, Iowa's Writers Workshop, River Music Experience, and the Ballet Quad Cities. Central Iowa is home to the largest city in the state, Des Moines, which is the location of the state capital. Other attractions in central Iowa include the Reiman Gardens, Mamie Doud Eisenhower Museum, Ledges State Park, Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad, and John Wayne's Birthplace Museum.
